What Are Mockups?
You may find that our design packages begin with a series of template design mockups. Incase you are unfamiliar with what a template design mockup is, we hope that the following explanation may clear things up.What are Mock-Ups
Website design mockups are basic graphical representations of the style, layout, placement and flow that your designer hopes to provide in your finalized website. Its purpose is to provide a general idea of what the look and feel of your website will be.You will generally receive multiple design mockups. This is mainly because there are a number of ways that some of your requests may be filled. Having multiple design mockups allows you to compare possible “prototypes” for your website. You will need to select one which is closest to what you envision for finality. This selected mockup will be the one that is taken through the revision process in order to refine it into your final design.
You may find that the mockups help you conceptualize your ideas or provide better focus on your designer’s ideas. They become a great tool for communication, as you will have more examples and elements which you can use when requesting changes.
Keep in mind that mockups only propose sample content and content layout themes. Things such as photos and sample text are usually used for mockups and are not generally descriptive of your company. You may also notice what many call “gibberish” which begins with the words “Lorem Ipsum Dolor”. This is a typographers/printers technique for setting layouts before verbiage is placed. The main purpose of mockups is to provide a pre-proof of the layout ideas, user navigation, and styles to be present in the final design.
The next step is the revision process. This is where the designer will take your selected mockup, comments, and requests; and begin to make the alterations needed to bring the design to what you desire. This is not normally a single step process, and may require a few proofs and changes to get things right. Once the final proof is approved, the designs will begin to be sliced and coded into the website framework your content will be placed in.
